About

James joined the advertising industry in 1988 after his contract with the Republic of Singapore Air Force expired. His pan-industry advertising portfolio includes Telecommunications, I.T., Industrial, Editorial, Tourism, Airline, Banking, Automobile, Retail, Beauty & Cosmetics, Haircare, Skincare and Men’s Grooming. He was also the brand guardian for OCBC Bank and SK-II. As an Art Director, his strength in conceptualisation and branding, as well as his great eye for detail in crafting, has given him the opportunity to work closely with Neil French, the notorious advertising guru, on 3 consecutive Creative Annuals for WPP and his autobiography: “Sorry for the lobsters”. He has won advertising awards for Art Direction and Advertising Campaigns at the Creative Circle Awards, the London International Awards, the World Press Awards, the Asia Pacific Advertising Festival, and the LongXi (龙玺) Awards for Illustration.

James’ lifelong passion in comics led him to teach himself to draw at a very young age. He self-published his first comic book in 2015 and is in the midst of developing the follow-up graphic novel after a successful round of crowdfunding. In 2017, James created and launched the #DaCatPeeps brand of print-on-demand wearable art.
